Help me find an RB5

Hello.
Story goes...
1. Man has '95 STi import
2. Man get E46 M3, sells STi
3. Man sells BMW, gets MY11 4 door STi 320
4. Man sells 320 and buys a GT3 but a year later misses his Subaru
Man is selling 944 runaround, has cash, wants an RB5 to use as a daily driver, but isn't a member of their forums and hasn't been into the classic scene for a long while.
Help please! My short list for 944 replacement and daily driver duties is a TT Quatro sport, an R32, another 996 or any other 5-10k fun stuff. I'm going round in circles, but what I really want is another Subaru. Sad, isn't it?! When I sold the last STi some of you said I'd be back in a year!
So...who's got a good one for sale? Would rather buy from some one with a known car.
RB5 seems to tick the boxed. Don't want anything too silly, as my girlfriend will need to be insured on it and she's 24. Oh, and I've got a GT3 for Sunday drives!
It won't be doing big miles (5k a year max) because I've got a Berlingo for the bikes.

This!Good luck. There are usually a couple knocking about for sale, and people would prefer to sell them to someone with a genuine interest in the car it is.
I loitered on the owners club for a couple of years before I got mine, knew it was what I wanted all along.

An RB5 is mostly marketing though. I certainly don't dislike them, but I fail to see the real appeal.I agree with the marketing side of it, but it's still a good/special car. Loads of Subaru owners reckon it is the best colour, and it is the only UK version in that colour, all others are imports. It regularly has very good write ups, beating most cars it was up against, including UK turbos.
And Richard Burns must have been a special man to have 2 limited editions named after him. I have wanted one since I first saw one in 1999, but didn't/couldn't get one until 2008, and I intend to look after it. I love it. It is special, and it is nice when people recognise it for what it is, not like someone I met who got an RB320 "because it was black", they had no idea why it was special.

I guess I've bought them for different reasons so far. First was because I grew up idolising them in rallying, and playstation! When I could afford to run a 95 import STi I got one straight away. I then wanted something a bit more grown up for work plus I like chopping and changing, and the M3 was the only thing that gave me the same rush as the STi. When the M3 was getting leggy at 100k I was still running one car, so needed another performance car that was as great. I tried the V8 and all alternatives, but my test drive in the 320R saloon was awesome. So I bought it.
It took me a year to realise that it was perfect for a one car household, but that what I really wanted was a little fleet. I got such a good deal when I bought the STi that I didn't really lose anything when I traded it.
My dream garage is this...
996 GT3. It's just the car that means so much to me on so many levels, and I'm so lucky to be ably to own one. I don't use it enough, and I can't drive it very well, but I don't care.
I carry lots of mountain bikes t lots of races, so need a van type thing. I have a Berlingo because its cheap and comfy and so easy to drive. It's massive, like a van, but has five seats. My girlfriend and mates drive it if they need to shift stuffing I never worry. If Kia made an equivalent car I'd be in it like a shot, but the Citroen is the best I've found. I ran a diesel Scenic for a bit and it was much worse.
I got a Mk3 MR2 as a daily driver/soft top, because I fancied the 7/10ths of an Elise approach. It's ace, but my gf liked it so much that I gave it to her. Life's to short and it makes her very happy.
I got a 944 to replace it, which I love to bits, but running a 30 year old car just isn't for me. It's not worth much and is for sale on eBay at the moment.
I don't want to use the Berlingo for daily duties, too dull. I don't want to use the GT3, as I can't leave it anywhere. I don't like long journeys in the 944. I miss my Subarus and have about 5-10k to drop on an interesting car.
RB5 will always have an appeal, and in a year I may want another change. Right colour, sensible spec, UKDM, right body shape, practical sensible money etc etc. 4wd for the inevitable snow.
I'm not in a rush, but would like to find a good one to complete my perfect fleet!

The usual dilemma then!I have enough to worry about with keeping the Porsche clean. Perhaps you're right, I should get something less nice and use it without feeling guilty. However, at 4-5k I'm happy to use one and keep it serviced in tip top condition.

Yes. The P1 looks a bit fussy to me, I prefer the 4 door shape with less front splitter going on. The STi was a bit manic, and stiff. I'm not ruling either out, but as been said previously the WRX and specifically the RB seem to suit my needs a bit better.My mate is trying to convince me that a Mini CS is the way forward, and I think he may have a point... It's going on my list of stuff to try: TT quatro sport, RB, mini CS

Look, a good 911 is a thing of tactile pleasure, and very hard to drive well. M cars are a bit more grown up than Subarus, but not by much. The STis have always been raw and I assume the P1 is the same. I changed the first STi because I didn't like turning up to work in a 15 year old white car with black wheels. It didn't give the right impression.I'm the boss now, so it doesn't matter. The GT3 is Viper Green with Black.
RB5 owner checking in!
I love the raw approach of the car but often get comments about my rank and owning a RB5, I tend to brush them off as I know I'm good at what I do but I understand you not wanting to turn up in the STi.
The RB5 forum seems quite dead these days but there were more RB5's on Ebay than the likes of Autotrader last time I checked.
