The multi-function computer in the dash of my 05MY Legacy has gone up the spout. It went a bit funny for a few months, flashing up "ERR" from time to time, or the display just going off. But it always mended itself soon afterwards. But now it hasn't: I've got a permanent "ERR".

Is this a known thing? Can I mend it? Is there a tiny cheap thing I can buy to mend it with? Can my local servicing garage mend it? Do I have to take it to Subaru to get a main agent to mend it?

Questions. Thanks.

The computer on my outback works with a whack. Although doest flash any error message....some googling reveals its a dry joint on the circuit board. Common problem on foresters

A thump used to cure my one too, but no longer. I don't really understand what you said, but I suppose that means a new board? And thanks.

no you dont need a new one, you can remove the unit and solder up the joint to make it good again ( 5 mins work), longer to get the unit out though I guess. I've not done mine as I cant be bothered.

see the last post for the info you need.
