So what type of turbocharger and fuel injectors would be a good upgrade for a 98 STi engine. It already has a front mount intercooler, headers, and ecu. without using twin scroll.

Any suggestions???

I've got a 99 Sti wagon and I've up graded to a Andy Forrest ported td05 -18g turbo , spool is amazing , 3500 and its in bang !
Managed 368/347 with fmic, 550's,lateral headers . Apexi ecu, avcr etc
But depends what sort of power you want and how deep your pockets are !!
Good luck

My P1, think its the same engine as yours. Runs full exhaust, filter, front mount, fuel pump. I have 550cc injectors and a lateral performance MD321H turbo. And remap obviously

Its a little bit laggy but pulls hard to the redline.

running 1.4bar boost I'm at 402bhp/365lbft (on a hot 30+C day)

I'm new to all this but I'm running an 18G TD05 too, 1000cc injectors, fmic, apexi etc etc and like white noise says, it spools really well and goes like a train. I keep toying with going for a larger snail but its such a driveable set up. Mines running 1.4bar 422bhp 400ft/lbs.

Wow those are great figures for a td05. Who mapped it?

I'm contemplating an RCM450 for my ej25 p1 at the moment.

Hi lefty, all the supporting paperwork (dyno sheets) came from 'Dyno Demons' up in Cheshire, but I haven't been able to find out much about them! The car is running an apexi power commander (if that's what its called!) and an apexi boost controller, set at either 0.9Bar, 1.2 Bar or 1.4 Bar at the flick of a switch. Forged ej25, top feed fuel rails, 1000cc injectors (so I'm told as I can only find receipts for the 880cc ones!), 3" all the way through to a 6"x3" Magnex ovaled backbox. Built as a road legal sprint car its running 4.4 final drive and ridiculously short ratios, which with the power make it very frustrating to drive on track as you run out of cogs too quick. Then again I have used it not for what it was designed to do, thinking either up-size to 18s or potential 6 speed conversion.

I'd get that one back on the rollers if I was you. It seems incredibly high for an 18g.

The 18g is a great, sturdy turbo though.

I was hoping to get round to it once I have the car back together; as had a slight incident with power steering pipe failure/fire at Blyon Park at my 1st track day in it earlier in the year. The numbers could be completely bogus as I have only been able to go off the paperwork supplied with the car and I am a complete newbie to subarus. I am based in Staffordshire, is there anyone you would recommend to go to?

Just had a look through some more of the paperwork with the car, mentions 'Andrew Carr' as having mapped it, but I cannot prove if it was the first map, current map or the 20 odd in between (there are a ridiculous number of dyno sheets)

Speak to Dynamix (Duncan) who travels and no doubt has a rolling road he can map on that'll be close to you.

Agreed. Those figures are high for a 20g, never mind an 18g and frankly impossible without a bucket load of meth/race fuel. Who knows, you may well have a 20g or bigger and not know it...

Its well known that the 18g is a 350-380 bhp turbo on a well set up car. "white noise" figures above are bang on what can be expected and are what I'm aiming for when I get an 18g.

Pic from a chap on the p1 owners club.

This is a forged ej25 running Syvecs, 740cc injectors and an RCM450, pretty much convinced me into changing turbo this winter (along with the box!) it makes more torque everywhere than my AFP20G on the same long block/ecu/injectors.
