If you've got the cash to pay for it it'll see you good until I buy it off you smile Plus you've felt the car before the power upgrades so it'll feel that much more worth it too.
hehe you might have a wait on your hands!

If all goes to plan I will put a 20g on it later in the year for nice solid 400bhp and a good side dish of torque smile

Make sure you get the right advice about drop-in pistons. I got some conflicting advice on this topic.
I'm going to get the bores honed to match slightly oversized pistons.

I've had the car from new and this is the first time I've had any problems, so willing to throw some cash at it... With the intention of getting another 8 years trouble-free fun out of it.

Looking forward to hearing how you get on.

They command a premium, however, they do look the part and the leather interior is nice (my blobeye had full leather which really transforms it as place to sit).

A forged rb320 will hold value providing the mileage is kept in check.

Well it sounds like you have a clear plan and it will make for a bullet proof long term car.

What are the symptoms of HGF? Always makes me paranoid when i here these stories. Would be interested in a ball park figure of the final build cost too if you didnt mind sharing it of course;)

Mine started by pushing coolant into the expansion bottle. This only happened whilst driving on high boost... Drive off-boost and all is fine. Trouble is, there's nothing more frustrating than deliberately driving our cars off boost!

The standard oil picks are known to fracture causing oil pressure problems, and absolute worst case engine failure. The Killer B one is 3 times thicker and has additional supports. There are no uprated ones manufactured or available in the UK.

I just had a single incident of erratic temperature problems after a hard drive. I got a sniff test don't the following day and it failed with flying colours wink My coolant level also rose in the reservoir, however, I am led to understand that a small amount of movement is normal as the coolant expands!?

Quotes came in between 2,700 to 3,500. Some builders gave a best case which didn't even include skimming the heads and using drop in pistons, where two others wouldn't entertain not skimming the heads and not reboring. I suspect going with the cheaper quotes would have wound up the same as you got the inevitable phone calls part way through the build.

Just the head gaskets, studs and labour was around 1,400 quid...

Cheers for that, the figures for the head gasket alone comes as a bit of a shock, I can see why you would go the extra to forge the engine considering the cost of just the gasket job.

I have been wondering how the build was going. Do you know when you are looking to have all the work completed?

About 3 weeks. The block went off Friday for skimming and cylinder work. Looking like we are fitting Omega pistons from Roger Clarke, which keep the same standard compression ratio...

Block rebored now (.25mm), just waiting for pistons which should arrive tomorrow, then a final hone to fit.

Mine's in having a very similar build, which is due to be finished in 4 weeks, so I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on.

What have you been advised with regard to initial mapping, running-in and final mapping?

What BHP and lb/ft figures are you expecting?
