Saw one of these the other day It looked so much better in the metal than it does in pics.

I've seen a new car in white quite a few times and I must say it looks really good. A local dealer has it and it's a big improvement I think.

Nice car by the way, I'm also having just one of my rear arches go again even though all the rust was apparently cut out. Back to the body shop again!

Went to look at one today in Cambridge. Extremely impressed with the quality inside compared to the last few iterations. Nothing that a BMW owner will care for but for a Subaru everything is in the right place with the right feel. The binnacle is a bit too colourful and busy for my liking but I suppose it's just because it's for a new demographic. I didn't have time to take it out for a spin but I'm sure it'd be typical Subaru. I'd certainly consider one although the doubts about the engine, and the fact it's not sold in Japan yet, do worry me as a replacement is most certainly on the way.

Looks like the DIT engine will not be in any WRX STI as the Japanese model will use an EJ20.

So in short, we're stuck with the 2.5. Buy from a good dealer and hope they've fixed the known issues. Personally it would not put me off but I would only buy from http://www.mangoletsi.com.

Why only Mangoletsi? I've got Johns card, but it is a long way from me.
I went on Thursday to Bell and Colvill for a test drive. Awesome.

They offer a 5 year warranty even with their in-house performance mods.

Anyway, tell me more about the test drive smile

The test drive was very good. Now to me everything is shiny and new, I've had a '99 RB5 for the past 6 years as a daily drive, until a year ago when I bought a snotter Fiesta Zetec S to keep the miles off the scoob. Both these cars are pretty basic and raw, so anything less than 10 years old is new.

Amazing. I took it very easy for the first couple of miles, all the dealer said as I left was "please don't put it on its roof, like a lotus we had a few weeks ago". It felt really big for a while, until I'd got a bit used to it. I got on to the A3 at about 50mph, and it was clear, so I put my foot down - hard. *uck a duck! I was doing nearly double that in no time at all. So much power, but at the same time, driving through Guildford after that it was just normal and well behaved doing boring driving.

This will be the first Brand New car I will buy. I'm intending to use a loan, rather than finance, that way the car is mine from the start. I'm not planning on any engine upgrades, so a normal warranty will be good enough. I'd like to shop around, but I don't think the dealers will move much on price at all, so I can't see the point in going to a dealer millions of miles away. I would like to try one with the short shift option, as that is the only option I am really interested in - although the one I drove was standard and that seemed pretty short anyway.

All I need to do now is choose between Blue or Grey. I was set on Grey, but a Subaru should be Blue really. Can't decide, got a couple of weeks before I go for another drive with the Hubby (who will HATE it) and leave a deposit for a March delivery.

Call Mangoletsi up and get them to deliver it to you. They also do some really nice splitters and rear spats which sort the car out a lot and that 5 year warranty WILL be handy. You can take it anywhere after you buy it but those guys would get my business.

It's a new car and I'm sure you'll be able to get a bit off or some of the options thrown in. And they do a gold wheel option which you won't get from others smile

Do it!

Gold wheels you say? That could be the decider. Googled how far it was, if I get a day off in the next fortnight, and get in for a drive short notice, I could take a trip up there. Hopefully give John a call this week some time.

Still want the grey though, but a blue one with gold wheels??? ......

The blue one with gold wheels will hold its value over the long term better. Besides, you'll regret getting drab grey wink

True, but gold wheels aside, everyone will be getting blue. Grey will be the different one. Will have to decide soon I suppose.

But there are hardly any of them in the UK. Anyway, drab grey is for Audis. A Scooby should be bright blue, sport massive gold wheels and be so loud it wakes the dead hehe

I am swaying towards the blue today, that could change when I sleep, or breathe or something. Will call John tomorrow and see if I can get a blue one with gold wheels. Mmmmmmmmmm.

How quick did the new STI seem versus your RB5? Is your RB5 a PPP'd car?

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm pretty confident that Mangoletsi offer the same 3 year warranty that all Subaru UK dealers offer. With the option of extending for further 2 years at a cost... Which all of us dealers can do.

According to their post on Scoobynet it's a 5 year warranty from day zero. No extra cost and it's off their back rather than via Subaru UK. Glad to know you can offer it too.
