Hi I've just bought a 2006 Super Roo Hawkeye, and have a big void in the dash with a single Din stereo flopping about like a dick in a barrel. I'd like to replace the single DIN for a double DIN and have been told all I need are the side mounts as it's bolted in and the cage attaches or vica-versa? Any ideas where I can find them? Ebay seems full of earlier or later models would the bracket not be the same as the blobeye?

Any advice would be great!

The brackets on the later dash (04 onwards) are the same as your hawk but unfortunately the older brackets don't work as the angles are different. Most breakers will sell them as part of the full interior conversion so they're difficult to track down individually. For ease I'd probably go to Japparts or a dealer as they'll not be that expensive (he says optimistically).

I hope the dealer supplies them?

Yeah, they should do. Are you sure your single DIN unit isn't currently bolted in with a set though? I've got my single DIN Alpine unit bolted in using the original brackets.

Yes, I suspect there was one hell of an audio system in the car. There were some huge power leads swinging in the breeze, so I asked the seller to remove them fearing electrical fires etc.

It would've originally been single DIN but it's had a double DIN put in and removed prior to sale at a guess and a Sony just wired but thrown in. It's just the mounts which I believe get attached to the cage and then screwed in two bits of metal?

I would be surprised if the side panel mounts are not there. They would have been needed to hold the single din.

You don't need a cage with those mounts. I just screwed the mounts straight onto the side of my double din (2007 car).

Thinking about it I test drove (for all of two miles before realising it was junk) a blob wagon down near Bolton that just had the OEM radio bunged in the hole without any brackets. Yeah, that was a tidy car...

eBay has a couple of stereos for sale with the side mounts attached, for instance:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-impreza-wrx-stere...

Or even the side plates themselves:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Impreza-Wrx-Sti-N...

Dealer should be able to get them for you but check the price first. Recently ordered a replacement foglight from them for £400+, ended up getting a non-Subaru part for a quarter of the price.
