Chaps,
One of the front shocks has rotted through and failed on my Spec B necessitating a replacement of both front units.

As it's a Spec B they are Bilstein units - and my mechanic is having hell of a job finding a replacement. We have been onto the two local Subaru dealerships who say the units are on backorder from Bilstein but with no date for availability.

Car is off the road - family holiday to cornwall next week - I'm in a bit of trouble here..

Does anyone know where I might be able to source these items - or is there a different unit that I can use like for like? My mechanic is somewhat reticent to order in parts that might not fit.

Any help would be very gratefully received..

Thanks

Standard shocks should fit as a temporary measure. Pretty sure the mounting points, etc are identical.

I posted my experience here, including the part numbers for my my07 tourer:

IIRC Subaru dealers add a hefty markup, and you may well get the same shocks cheaper from a parts specialist like I did.

However, when I was searching I couldn't find anyone with stock, and the factory order took the best part of 2 months to come through frown Fortunately although my originals were quite noisy they were still essentially sound.

You might find some noisy shocks on Ebay which you could use short-term? It wasn't hard to sell my old pair.

Good luck!

I'd speak to Camskill; they are very good with Impreza suspension so given the similarities I'd imagine they should be able to help track down suitable replacements for you.

I appear to have found some - in stock at Demon Tweeks.

They are stating they are in stock. I'll expect an e-mail on Monday to say they aren't and that lead time is not known..

Fingers crossed though.

Yes!
They (somewhat unsurprisingly) didn't have them in stock as their website suggested but they got them from Bilstein quickly and are now on the car.
