Hi, I am the owner of a self storage company in Romford Essex. I am in the process of clearing a container where the customer has abandoned his goods, owing me a vast amount of money. I have just come across various body panels and parts for a 'M' reg SVX. I am aware that these cars are becoming quite rare now so there is an opportunity for an enthusiast to grab a bargain. Any takers??? I can be contacted on 07956334987, thanks Andrew

I would have said "extremely" rare. They only sold in tiny numbers in the first place. In fact, I can't recall seeing one in the last 10 years.

If there is a gearbox that might be worth something - they all failed, hence no cars left. iirc 2000 cars or so brought into the uk.

I didn't know that was the problem. Was there a particular fault peculiar to that car?

There was a maximum of 232 licensed in the UK according to this

Rare car indeed.

Yes.

The autoboxes ate themselves problem with internal oil feeds I think. I had one rebuilt (at huge expense) with OEM parts after catastrophic failure and that was starting to behave oddly again 30K later. iirc there was only one place in the UK that would work on the boxes, forget the name somewhere near Luton I think.

Well known issue within the subaru network but Subaru UK/IM didn't seem to care.

In the states some people did replace the autobox with a manual. But that wasn't cheap and there were lots of other parts that were svx specific - I gave up after the steering rack started having problems (and the auto box being worrying again)

I used to see a fair few (most of them if that 200 figure is correct !) because the local Subaru dealer in Pool in Wharfedale (KT Green - excellent dealer btw) were a specialist in SVXs - I know they used to get cars coming down from Scotland to be serviced.

Other than locally (obviously visiting the dealer) I only ever saw one other on the road in the time I had mine.

Last one I saw was a tatty white one parked in Harrogate about 3 years ago.

Friend has one and just sold another.

I sent one to the car heaven in the sky that was beyond rescue but its engine lives on in my racecar smile

Did about 14 trackdays with my auto.Did notice the auto warning light coming on more frequent,so cut the fog light covers out in bumper and put a radiator in the n/s wing.worked well for another 7.Now have a 5speed manual out of a P1.Trouble is I went to snetterton last month and the engines started knocking.Any recommendations for a rebuild, not looking for the sort of power AFP or Simons JGM puts out as gearbox only good for 330hp.Will need somebody also to do a loom and put in a programmable ECU.Dont want to part it out.Suggestions?

I've seen JGM's SVX powered monster at TFS Racing a fair few times and Stewart is pretty handy at odd engine combinations and fabricating stuff if required.
