Any recommendations? I just spent half an hour on the phone to my current insurers (Admiral) trying to explain what the PPP was, only for them to decide they can't insure it because "the intercooler has been modified" - despite me politely explaining many times that the intercooler is completely standard and the only difference is a bit of silicon pipe furious

The usual goconfusethemarket.com lot aren't inspiring much confidence, so before I start trawling through are there any companies you could recommend?

Thanks in advance smile

I use a great broker called gsi insurance to insure my PPP sti. I made sure they knew about the PPP & they checked it out with their insurers. The good news is they will get you insured & As it's a standard factory fitted upgrade it really makes no difference to the price of the insurance as it doesn't freak the insurers out!

The companies based in Kent but do most of their dealings over the phone. Nice people too.

I went with Sky, mine is standard but planning to add PPP (or equivalent of), got quoted both with/without and the price difference wasn't much. I was with Admiral last year but they couldn't even do a quote for my car with PPP fitted.

Ring Keith Michaels and ask for Gary Moulson. He knows all about Japanese performance cars, namely the impreza.

I was going to suggest this, it seems that all of Scoobynet uses him. I'm going to call them when renewal time comes, anyone know what the best way to add track day cover is?

Thanks all. GSI were very helpfulbut too expensive for me sadly. Sky and Adrian Flux are coming out pretty similar, and I'll give Keith Michaels a try tomorrow. Explaining the Prodrive pack over and over is becoming pretty irritating! hehe

Another vote for Sky insurance. I had my WRX PPP insured with them, they beat Gary at Keith Michaels quote and great customer service too. Whilst most of scoobynet will recommend Gary M, he can be a nightmare to get hold of and I always felt it was like speaking to a mate rather than a professional offering a service, not a problem for some I guess.

A Plan, Thatcham branch were always very good when I had a PPP Scoob.

Yeah, another vote here for A-Plan's Specialist Schemes branch at Thatcham. Very knowledgeable people on the end of the phone, and should have no problem finding a suitable policy. I have had unmodified and modified GT-FOUR's, Imprezza's and currently a Litchfield Forester STi with them.

Greenlight is another good option. They aren't reading from a spreadsheet for models so they'll sort you out.

Keeping an eye on this topic as it is very well timed. My insurance is due next month and wanting to see where is best for a modified Wrx.

Sorry to butt in, but thanks for the ideas.

I insure my Classic UK Turbo PPP with Elephant (sister company) by telling them it's a standard car bar a dealer-fit "chip" and exhaust. I don't think a bit of silicone pipe really matters...

My WRX PPP is insured with Admiral, it was a bit of a pain that they didn't have the PPP listed as an option for the car but I just listed the different mods that make it up and they were fine with it.

Thanks for the input guys - much appreciated. Sky eventually came up with the best all-round deal for me, which I'm happy with as I've used them before. Now I just need to pick the car up!

Thanks for the update, Sky seem to know their cars and what modifications are.

In case it is of interest to anyone 1 year on, Adrian Flux managed to knock an additional £75 off my renewal from Sky. No-one else seemed to get anywhere near!

Yep. They were very helpful but over twice the price for me!
