Strange fault. 2005 2.0 Legacy IV

Strange issue which was been happening for a few weeks:

1. Cruise control not engaging. The "cruise" light turns on, but I cannot "set" it.

2. The alarm keeps setting itself. Whilst driving, the indicators rapidly flash 4 times, followed by the alarm sounding on arrival when a door is opened. This can be cleared using the button on the key.

Any ideas?
