Hi All,

Bit of a strange one. I have a 2006 forester 2.5xte but there is no traction control disable button. it just has a blank where it is listed as being located in the handbook (by the fog light switches). I cant find anything to say some models did not have a switch to disable traction control either on the handbook or online.

Just wondered if anyone could shed some light on this. should it have and a damaged switch has been blanked off or did it not from the factory and if so can this be rectified by adding a switch somewhere or will it be embedded in the cars software. i have checked to see if it could be as simple as running a switch to interrupt a fuse but it seems there is no fuse to control the traction system so again makes me think it must be a software controlled system.

any info would be of great interest.

I had a legacy outback that had no TC switch. If you pull out the VDC fuse it disables it. Only found this out as I wanted to have some unrestricted fun in the snow a few years back.

Only downside is the same fuse controlled the electric windows which was slightly annoying

I had hoped there might be a way like that.
i'll see if it does the same for my forester and if i fit a switch to "remove the fuse" at least it wont be to annoying only having no power windows when its switched off.

Are you sure it actually has TC? Does something light up on the dash as I didn't think they had it until the SH.

OP, I have the same SG FXT as you. There is no traction control...and really, it doesn't need it smile TC did not arrive until the SH cars. Interestingly, have you taken yours off-road/in the snow yet? If not, you must do s as this truly proves TC is not needed with an FXT 95%+ of the time.

I have an 07 2.5XTen PPP and definitely no traction control, spinning up all 4 wheels is quite achievable if you provoke it on a wet road.
