Ah, not you then smile

THere's a nice RB5 I see knocking around here

Didn't the RB5 have similar springs to the P1 so good for 'UK roads'

I've seen loads of cars with smoked lights. They cheapen the look of most cars but each to their own.

RB5 is just a regular uk turbo 2000 with cosmetic changes (plus rather heavy 17" wheels) so suspension is the same, unless fitted with the optional WR inverted Bilsteins, which most weren't.

My RB5 is still going strong....

I am also going for a set of BC coil-overs as although the suspension was refreshed a few years back, its starting to feel a little tired.

I recently went on the dyno and the car performed poorly due to over-fueling and generating too much heat which was pretty disappointing even if expected. I knew about the heat problem as heat soak is a major issue on a hot day stuck in traffic and wondered about the fueling which is part of the reason for the dyno which in the end showed what I expected. I'm not too concerned about this as I don't believe its *that bad* however clearly its not ideal and needs to be fully understood prior to any other changes.

The plan is then to get the car to the track and other days.

^ Have you tried a classic (or any other car for that matter) on BC's? I would highly recommend it before swapping, or at least make sure you keep the old stuff wink

I know what you mean bud. I've hated coil-overs on other cars.

I've been out in a blob and they weren't too bad adjusted for a soft setting.

I have previously considered these, which are similar to the originals; http://www.pedders.co.uk/subaru-impreza-classic-gc...

Thanks for the advice smile

Suspension wise, these are on ebay at the moment:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331639298615?_trksid=p20...
You'll need to find fronts though, so patience needed. Best setup for UK roads imho. Failing that, there's these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111757183722?_trksid=p20...
Springs can be got here: http://www.scoobynet.com/group-buys-356/991887-pro...

Sad Wevil, thanks very much for the info, I will give it consideration for sure.

I haven't liked coil-overs on plenty of cars I've experienced them in so I'm only about 60% sure I will take that route. I do like the fact they can be hardened for track use and softened for the road however.

My old one 371 Drumsterphil I remember your car I had mine around the same time was far from standard I've always fancied another but as said a nice one is hard to come by now.

I remember #371, I'm sure I have a picture or two of it somewhere!

As for suspension, I'd recommend the Eibachs Pro S coil overs, non adjustable but a great compromise for road use. The original P1 setup was also very good. (Never fancied BC's as they had a reputation for failing/needing rebuilds).

Matty, if you don't mind me asking, what is the electronic display on top of your centre console?

Thanks! smile

Thanks Phil, I reckon I should do a bit more research based on what everyone has said prior to purchase! smile

That's a SECS monitor - plugged into the ODB port and displayed boost etc Very hard to find now but a decent piece of kit.

No worries on suspension stuff - I had the Eibachs coilovers fitted to both the RB5 and 22B and they worked very well as a road setup.

As Phil said its a s.e.c.s monitor used to read all the data from the standard ecu great for peak readings but a bit hard to see on the go that's why I had the defi's aswel although looking back now it was probably a bit overkill.
Today's alternative would probably be a toucan but sadly these only work with a aftermarket ecu.

The KYB twin tubed 'red' V5/6 STi dampers, combined with the 'P1' (sn group buy springs) are a perfect UK road solution for a classic. I have ran that set-up (still run the springs but now with Bilstein dampers) and it gives a wonderful compliant 'float' which is keeping in the true spirit of what the IMpreza was meant to be - takes all the rough stuff in its stride, comfortably.

I see Subaru have made the latest Impreza's ('WRX STi's') etc quite hard

As for coilovers, if you are looking at occasional track work. The Eibach Pro Street do a decent job. Had those on a JDM twin scroll. Other ones are KW Clubsport, or even V3's if your budget can go

Let us know how you get on

Thanks Matty.

I've been looking at a Toucan as I've got a Alcatek but I do generally prefer the integrated look to these things where possible.

Yes, that's all sounding like it fits.

Whenever she feathers it past mine (corner shop front on a low speed small island) she makes it sound sweet with a small spool up wink

Got a better pic?
