I posted a while ago about a 2 litre Sti hitting boost cut in 6th , some one mentioned about changing the solenoid to a three port , can some one who's done it explain that plus pros and cons please , I assume boost level gets raised but I don't want to kill the car and was not looking to exceed current boost cut level

The way it was explained to me is the 3 port gives much finer control of boost throughout the rev range. My car had one fitted before mapping.

Do you have a boost gauge showing overboost or something?

1 to 5 was fine 6 th on a cold day would hit the factory boost cut , the mapper put a programe into the Ecu to reduce boost in colder weather , it feels reduced by a bit too much , it hits 1.45 on the boost guage but that probably ambitious

Pro is tighter control of boost than the factory 2 port.

Con is you will need all the WGDC tables remapping.

You may also find if it was just 6th gear in the cold that you were getting boost creep. The VF35 is known for it, although it's far worse if you have a less restrictive exhaust fitted. It's a physical issue so all you can do with the map is keep well away from the threshold at which is starts.

It's was only 6th gear being the issue and it was hitting the factory boost cut strangely it was hitting it fairly low on the rev range , it was originally hitting it in normal rev range but he changed that , the low revs when it was hitting the boost cut he put some thing on the map that meant if it's cold then boost is reduced by certain per cent

Hi , a chap called Paul , fixed as in not hitting the cut yes , but not sure if too much boost was reduced , any idea the level I should expect to reach ?
