Does anyone know whether the rear exhaust section on a 98-02 SF S turbo Forester will fit a 2005 SG 2.0XT Forester? I'm looking for a replacement and found this

I contacted the seller and he could not find an exhaust in his catalogue for the 2.0XT, but I'm wondering if the above would be the same?

Corvus, don't think this will fit as the mountings are different. It would be worth asking the same Q? on subaruforester.org as there are some good guys there who know what alternative Subaru exhausts for SG9 FXT's.
Q?, why not push the boat out and fit a Harward & Scott back end? I have one on my FXT and it sounds great. They can be found second hand/on ebay for little money. http://www.haywardandscott.com/subaru/forester/for...

Just to update, ended up getting one of these.

Although it's meant for a 2.5xt, it fitted perfectly to my 2.0xt, and looks very similar to the original with a chromed tip. Although it's meant to be like the original, it gives a nice burble, the silencer is slightly smaller.
I've had it on the car for a few months now. I overtook a car and noticed what looked like white smoke coming out of the back. Made me feel a bit sick at first, as my first thoughts were worn turbo or blown head gasket (although it's not meant to affect the 2.0 engine) The car has been fine since I've owned it, with regular coolant and oil changes, and it still drives fine. I mentioned it to my mechanic who suggested water in the exhaust.
And that's what it is, there must be a water trap inside. When you accelerate rapidly, water vapour blows out. It disappears almost instantaneously into the atmosphere.
So I have no idea how long this exhaust will last, but will probably rot from the inside out if there's water in there building up. But for the price I'm not that bothered.
So if anyone buys one of these, be prepared!

Does anyone else have experience of the Hayward & Scott brand?
I'm looking at the 3" backbox for my soon-to-arrive Forester STi (which I am very much looking forward to!!)
From what I've read, the stock STi item is pretty poor in terms of rust resilience and quiets the 'Subaru burble' which I am keen to keep - but definitely don't want anything leary or too loud - and i'm keen to keep the stock appearance.
Is it worth going for a full cat back system, or will the backbox alone suffice?
Any help very much appreciated!

hayward and scott are very good , the standard fsti system looks good i'm not aware of rust issues , the only problem with the stanadard system it's too quiet , i have a hks back box then i later did a centre section delete from hayward and scott

I don't know about getting the whole system made bespoke, I remember paying through the nose in the past for custom exhaust systems to be manufactured for various applications!be nice to just have a one-off made for it for. treat yourself.
I'm not sure Mrs. P would appreciate the outgoing at the moment, too... as we have a Mini P on the way!

Indeed, useful information, cheers...My wife works all around Hemel, Watford, St Albans, et al... we know the area quite well. If you wouldn't mind it may be useful for me to have a look and listen to yours if you've got one fitted?
As mentioned before, the car is still on its way here from Japan and won't be ready to collect until mid March, so i'm in no particular rush!
I had a custom cat-back stainless system with no centre resonator made for my 2006 at a cost of £400. I specifically asked for the Subaru burble without being obnoxious on the motorway and they did a perfect job. Can't say it's improved the performance as it already has too much for the stock brakes and suspension!
