I wish to upgrade my plastic rear window to glass. Which companies are the best? Ideally near M25 or south, thanks!

Would recommend Mark at Freelance Mazda Chatham, Kent. He fitted a mohair with glass rear window to my wife's Eunos & made a lovely job of it.

We used Car Hood Warehouse when we had our roof replaced a couple of years ago. Great quality at a good price.Still looking good. My wife took it in and was impressed with the workshop and the speed (it took about an hour and a half). I would use them again. They were apparently impressed when we wanted to keep the car original with a vinyl roof and plastic rear window, which I liked.

Take a day off and book it into Jack Smith Trimmers in Swansea.
His hoods are perfectly cut, made and trimmed. See other comments if you google them.
My mohair hood with zip-out, plastic rear window (glass not an option due to the roll-cage) still looks good after four years and cost £250.
We drove down early, dropped the car off, walked along the beach, had coffee at the library, lunch at a small Italian restaurant in the harbour area, strolled back along the beach and collected the car in time to drive back to Reading for the evening.
HTH.
Cheers, Pewe.

+1 for Jack Smith in Swansea,

good quality roof fitted in about 2 hours.

Mine had an HRW. it was £270 earlier this year.

They also fixed a couple of other issues with the rubbers and the rainrail.

I am booked into Jack Smiths. Unfortunately for mid October, so quite a wait!

You won't regret waiting for Jack Smiths. Once you are done, head out of Swansea and get on the A465 to Brecon, via the Hirwaun common. Brilliant road.

Ok thanks.

He did ask me which type of Mohair material I wanted. I had no idea! Thoughts?

Took my OH's car to Jack Smith's a number of years ago. I've just asked him whether he was asked about the type of material - he says he was only asked what colour he wanted, so can't help you there.

It's a few years old now but it still looks good.

I don't remember being asked what type of mohair , just what colour.

Give him a call and ask him what he types are and what the differece is , he is the expert after all :-)

Bit late to this but for future reference I went to Car Hood Warehouse in Chessington too about a year ago. Took about an hour and a half and the hood is perfect, also saw an S2000 and another MX5 there at the time and both hoods look pristine. Bit closer to those in the South East than going off to Wales.

Thanks for the suggestion! smile
