the benefit of the fsti is a smaller turbo so boost starts very early with little lag , the downside is the turbo tends to run out of puff at around 1.3 bar so probably less to gain by re mapping it ?
I can confirm that there is a huge difference on mapping the VF41 on an FSTI. Night and day, you won't regret it.

Hi yellowstreak , thanks for the info on more power , i'm not doubting that's the case , my limiting issues are lack of money for doing it after the build and i'm not looking for more power as i will probably use it and kill the mpg as its intended as a daily drive , it's no slouch at the mo so i'm not unhappy with it as is , i'm hoping current map is ok or i will have to do it

well last update , it's all run in now , slight clutch judder but it's getting less , probably driving like an old fart during run in did not help to clear it , no det on tesco 99 , yes a remap would probably work for a bit more power but to be honest it's quite a bit quicker now so i'm not bothered , now enjoying ?? paying off the bills for it , but nice to think the lump is now good for the foreseeable , last dilemma do i sell my bugeye jdm wagon

Did your huge repair bill include a nice new clutch/flywheel skim?

hi yes re skimmed fly wheel and a new clutch , i think it's a race clutch , still bedding it in now , a slight blue puff on start up but it appears to be oil vapour from the intercooler

a slight awakening of this thread , as engine has run in boost has gone up so i felt best get it checked , good i did as there is det around the 4 to 5 k area , it maybe solved by a fuel pump but i'm expecting a map as other fsti is fine on oe pump , on the positive side it's doing 330 bhp and 340 ft pounds even with det which is not bad , fuel pump being fitted next week and i will find out if a re map or tweek to current map sorts it out , fingers crossed for not too much ££££

Get a Walbro one. Had a Torques/RCM one in mine. Failed in less than a year. Chinese junk. Get the proper American one if you can.

Edit - got the Walbro from Graham Goode. Think about £70 delivered next day.

Hi MDNA , i have already got one but cheers , it is a walbro one so i'm hoping it's the real thing it looks like it is , the other fsti has been fine on original pump so i'm reluctant to change it due to even new pumps breaking , i will see what the mapper says about the fuel duty cycle ? and see if that is at its higher level , and see if it is the pump which i doubt it is , i'm hoping a map tweak rather than full remap as even he says the only issue is fuel , rolling road said the same just a fuel issue , i was surprised what it was putting out even though it's not running correctly

Had a problem a while back before swapping it with it randomly cutting out. Swapped both fuel relays as never for a minute thought it would be the new pump. Then it did it again after new oem relays. Whipped the pump out, tested it on the bench and it was cometely dead. Phoned GG, he mentioned there was quite a few problems and copies about of the one that was in. Got a genuine Walbro one sent out and has been perfect since. Just a little noisier than stock but don't notice it when in the car. Main thing is that it works and won't leave me stranded.

well the pump was on its way out , changed for an uprated one and the det went away , i few very minor tweaks to the map but it would have been ok without the tweaks , i was 1, not expecting pump to cure it and 2 , i was surprised the pump was going at only 75 k miles , i fuel pressure checked both other cars and all is good , no apparent damage done by the det , and worrying the det was not that obvious
