We run a 2004 WRX 5 door. Bought it new 12.5 years ago and is now on 150k miles. It's got to that stage where it's bashed about a bit, car park dents, scratches etc, meaning we're very relaxed about parking it anywhere and if it doesn't get washed for a couple of months, really doesn't matter.
We've thought about changing it recently, but whatever we consider, look at and drive, whenever we get in the old Subaru, we decide to stick with it.
It's been 100% reliable, a split water hose being the only issue since new.
It's not worth anything, not fast, compared to modern alternatives, not the most economical car, most refined or comfortable, but I'm confident that I could jump in it now and drive to the other end of the country without issue (fingers crossed!) and deal with any weather or road conditions thrown its way.
It's part of the family after all these years and going to remain so.
Anybody else as attached as we are?!!

Worst thing I did selling my 2000 MDL Turbo 2000, I had it 9 years after an old mate had it as a company car for 3 years and it never broke, an outstanding car and I know its still going strong

I have a 2002 WRX 5-door. Just coming up to 170k. Lots of preventative maintenance but the only things that have failed have been an O2 sensor and a wheel stud. Properly engineered so it just works. I regularly do 300mile trips in it and I'm never concerned about it not making it. Rust is currently devouring the arches though frown

I got my late 04 PPP WRX Crystal Gray wagon in the Summer as a replacement for a rusting Classic version. It's only done 80,000 miles so a lightweight in this company.

Having had the Classic, I knew I'd like the practical/go anywhere ability and this one has the bonus of a bit more go.

I'm lucky enough to have a 911 of the same vintage and have somewhat surprised myself to find I take the Scoob out as first choice. I bought it for the work commute through the lanes but it's so good at everything else, I don't often pine for the Porker in real world motoring.

So far, I've swapped the wheels from aftermarket 18's back to original 17's, much better for my use despite what the Prodrive catalogue says. I've also swapped both auxiliary belts.

Wednesday is a big day. It goes in for a cambelt swap with new rollers and water pump plus a decent service. We're going to investigate the creaking suspension and fit the tow bar (for a car transporter trailer, not a caravan!). Assuming all is is well, final job will be a set of new boots, I had Uniroyal Rainmasters on the Classic which were excellent, I'm going to do the same again.

With no rust anywhere that I have been able to find and looking at the miles you chaps have done, suspect this will be a keeper.

Had mine 7 years now and I enjoy it as much now as the journey home when I bought it. But then it's not a daily for me. I plan to keep it as long as government will allow!

I'm another PPP wagon owner,2004, picked it up last year, 1 owner with 35,000 miles, has a full history with two timing belt changes and a FSH by supplying dealer. Such a nice car to drive, i've fitted STI alloys,foglight covers,centre console and 3 spoke steering wheel.Do not plan on selling it anytime soon

GB270 Wagon - 147k on original engine and transmission! I've wned Subaru's since 90's and despite the internet chatter they are generally made of strong stuff when looked after and not (too) abused.

I guess that's the thing - and with any car really, 'not abused'.
Despite the fact that ours is looking a bit tatty these days, it's had an annual service, or every 10k miles from new.
It does a mix of driving, pootling around locally, runs from Kent to Wales & far north of Scotland and still an occasional blast.Takes it all in its stride and on the
original clutch.
Good cars.
