Hi,

I've just won a Evo 7 on eBay - needs a bit of TLC.
It has high miles - 128k - but has supposedly had a full forged rebuild in 2013.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/mitsubishi-lancer-evo-7-...

Now - the company that done the work - Optimum Performance - are now no longer trading - they changed their name several times - and according to a few threads on Lancer Register are a bunch of cowboys.

I'm now concerned about buying it because I doubt what quality the work has been done to / if its been done at all.

Does anyone know of this car and can shed any light on it?

Many thanks,

Luke

Its done some miles but looks like a bit of a bargain if all is well.

I bought a VI that has previously been looked after by them, or what they used to be called which was FQ Performance... I had it 5 days and the engine shat it's pants and I'm now having to go down the route of a full engine build.

If they're the ones who did the engine work I'd seriously get it looked at immediately. Depending on where you are in the country, I'd take it to MG Autos, CPP or Indigo GT for a once over.

Well theres a bit of an update to this car....

I managed to get a photo of the paper work for the forged engine - which had the previous "owners" name and address on.

A quick google later and I had found the ex owners Facebook and instagram.

The previous owner did indeed have a Black forged EVO 7 - But was a different registration.

That car was written off so maybe the engine was put in this evo 7? Nope - I asked the previous owner to look at all the pictures - he even sent me pictures of his old engine / car to compare. - Completley different engine.

So the car that I won on ebay is a completely standard engine - No forged internals etc - The seller is just claiming it is using someone elses paperwork.

Just a warning for anyone looking at this car.

Good detective work. I take it you've now told him to swivel and aren't buying it?

Yeah - i just feel sorry for the next person that goes to look at it and takes the paperwork on face value.

This was also for sale on the Evo groups on Facebook just before this. It had had a knock on the N/S/F corner and needed a driveshaft and possibly an arm. I guess that this is why the tracking is 'slightly out'.
