2012 Subaru part compatability

I know that Subarus have a good interchangeable parts catalogue.

But can anyone confirm that the 2012 Forester shares gearbox linkage with any other model?

I ask as i want to shorten the throw of the gear lever and suspect that an Impreza part will do but wondered if anyone else knows for sure.

would it not work just shortening the gear stick and putting a thread on it ?

No.

This would only change the amount of leverage on the knob and not the actual movement between changes. Most likely just making it more awkward.

Short shifter kits change the fulcrum point of the linkage to actually reduce the movement needed to engage the gear.
