As this thread seems to have people in here who are not afraid of importing swift Subarus, I thought I'd post that my Gen5 Liberty/Legacy GT will probably be getting sold in the coming months. Its a 2012/MY13 wagon with 6MT. Being in Aus, its RHD and rust free. Thread in Readers Cars here Just sayin...

Think someone on the UKLEGACY forum was asking about one of these recently. Maybe worth a punt over there.

Edit to add mine will be here at the end of this year. On the road early next -

Thanks - I'm not looking to export it, just thought I'd mention it here in case anyone was interested. There's a healthy local market for these, so not expecting too many problems with selling, esp as unicorn spec of late model, wagon body, turbo engine, and manual box.

As an aside, I had a look at the Uklegacy thread you've linked - I'd probably agree on most things that second poster has written, and that's based on my experience of having had a 2005 GT wagon (with 5MT) before this one. The Gen4 is nicer to look at and more fun on B roads, but the Gen5 is bigger inside, a bit softer, and faster just about everywhere. And from about 2007-onwards they have the same 2.5T engine.

And looking forward to pics of yours too!

It landed yesterday. Paid the shipping and Customs and just waiting for TGT to go and collect it now. Be some time in January now before it's ready to collect.

That tbsti is very nice, I have just secured a white legacy spec b with only 55000km. I would have liked a tbsti but my budget wouldn't have secured me one in good condition, was going to bid on one this week but it had a cracked dash etc.

I have a Legacy tbSTi coming from Japan next year. It's a 2007 auto estate in grey. Can't wait, especially after all of the positive praise on here. BHP Imports managed to source one for me at an auction. I'm just waiting on detailed photos in the New Year once the Japanese return to work. Looks to be good condition and unmodified.

My only concern is the radio and nav screen and what I can do to get them UK compatible.

Lots of info on UKlegacy forum, you can get a facsia adapter and put in a double din uk unit, I think the JDM nav wont work in the UK. You can get a facsia adapter with the climate controls included or a cheaper one where you have to remove the controls yourself. If you want to stick with the jdm unit I think you can get a module so the radio works in the UK.

I've tried joining that forum but the registration system seems broken. I've tried many times to join. If you are a member, would you be able to let them know on my behalf please?

Thanks for the info.

Yes and no. I found it myself at a dealer in Japan and asked TGT if they would do everything else smile
Still waiting for the log book. Could be a few more weeks yet. Itching to get it now.

Smart move... Their connection over there is invaluable.

Few little bits. Full belt service, box service, new discs and pads, wheels and calipers refurbed, new tyres, Whiteline F+R roll bars, anti-lift and roll centre kit, re-map for 99 and I think that's it.
Will cap it at 300bhp. No point going down the downpipe/exhaust route as the standard bits can handle 300 easy enough. Wouldn't see the benefit of them keeping it at 300 and not worth going higher than that on the standard internals.
Also got a plate waiting to go on too.

I bought one of these a month or so ago, a facelift 2006. Mostly stock but with Bilstein coilovers, bigger K2 Gear scoop and a weird splitter on the back of the bonnet. Had it mapped by Duncan at racedynamix to play better with 99 fuel, a really serious detailing and in next week for a droplink and some bushes - it is 13 years old I suppose.

Already been up to the Lakes and Snowdonia with 4 adults and all our camping gear (and some late evening drives with a much lighter load, ahem), plus been daily-ing it to work etc. A really impressive car, civilised for getting to work or going to the supermarket but absolutely lunacy when you get on it. Handles really surprisingly well for a big estate car, feels very light and sharp.

I'd be careful pushing it much beyond 300hp without forging it mind, on the uklegacy forum nearly everyone who's gone much past that has killed their engine fairly quickly.

Bumping this as I presume the same car -

Have you PX'd against a car from TGT?

LOL... 'Few Little Bits'... fair play... I did the downpipe route and it mapped at 275 hp via Duncan from race dynamix... wihich isn't much top end gain... but the mid range rpms was up to a 30hp improvement.

I really like the plate and agree on going past 300hp... read the same!

Took it to be serviced and MOT'd back in Dec and the guy said he couldn't believe how clean it was underneath... the condition of the car as a whole was surprising!

Then last week, I had a lockdown breakdown and bought race car!

Sold this a couple of weeks ago. If anyone wants a view on these, I’ve updated the Readers Cars thread. Shame there’s nothing like it out there any more...

Looking good! thumbup

Also, the pic of yours following the pic of mine is just a reminder of how wrong Subaru got the design for the Gen5...

How are you getting on with the 4th gen? I've got a 5th enroute. Reckon it will be the end of the year before I get to drive it!
