Have a BP5 Legacy Spec B JDM with tokico calipers and 315mm discs, struggling to find some brake pads that might have a decent chance of surviving a track day. I have had a look on the UKlegacy forum and some parts websites but nothing conclusive. Most brake pads seem to be listed for the akebono calipers not tokico. Anyone have experience with this?

Does anyone know if these bluestuff will fit?

I would give either a specialist brake supplier (Godspeed) or a specialist Subaru supplier (AS Performance) a ring and see what they've got.
From memory Hawk and Brembo both do higher spec pads for the BL/BP.

Alyn is having issues getting pads in at the moment from Hawk. He suggested Brembo Xtra to me. You can get some yellowstuff/redstuff from Torque GT though I think.

Failing that - the part numbers for Hawk Pads you need are:
HB533F.668 (front 316mm discs)
HB434F.543 (rear 290mm discs)

I found the cheapest for both was a place called Summit Racing - based in the states. Never pulled the trigger but the cost was c. £222 (varies with exchange rate), probs about £270 all in when taxed etc.

Where are you based? I have a BP5 as well!

I'll try the specialist, thinking about taking a punt with Cambridge Motorsport as they seem to stock Hawk Pads and are pretty close to me (Hertfordshire based).

Trying2gofast- do you have a spec B as well? Taken me a while to gel with mine but overall enjoying it 👍 hopefully it will survive a track day!

Let me know how it goes! I've a spec b yeah. Just taken it around NC500 a couple of weeks back. Honestly it's given me no issues and drives well. Stock springs and struts are OK but quite heavy and I didn't find the rear quite stiff enough.

Have put some kW v2s on there and it's much, much better in corners.

I'm also running it with a map from Duncan and a fujitsubo centrepipe and cans, seemed to free up a bit more air and give it a nicer sound.

I honestly think it's a great car for the money. Granted its not anything like an M3 or MX-5, but they're different niches. For the Niche it is in, I think it's exceptional.

Really interested to see how you get on tracking your legacy. With my Clio slowing dripping brake fluid I've had to postpone a couple of track days this month, so it's been tempting to try in my 3.0 manual legacy wagon...

How serious a pad do you need?

Might find dixcel do something, Torque GT supply them.

Thanks everyone for the advice. Ended up getting some ebc bluestuff and threw these on the car yesterday, I have read pretty mixed reviews but won't be pushing too hard and they were a lot cheaper than going to a full race pad. Long term plan is to get something more suitable for regular track days the legacy was never intended for it really, just a spur of the moment booking with a mate.

Anyway, track day tomorrow so hopefully it'll be a decent day! Fingers crossed for some rain

Rain will be your friend!

I was gonna write a more in depth reply but just spotted the track day is today. If you're on a stock tune with v power, of still take it easy and let off a little at the top end rather than hit 7k every time.

Be interested to know what it's like, mines gone nowhere near being pushed in the years I've had it.

Mid track day update, not successful to be honest. Brakes are cooked and discs warped, probably need at least a much better pad or ideally STI calipers and discs to be honest. Also managed to blow a hole in the exhaust it's still drivable but track time done for today. For the record car is mapped for vpower(no increase in power) , braided lines, upgraded fluid, ebc bluestuff, pink springs, RCM clutch/flywheel


Sorry to post this in the Subaru thread but I don't think these are really up for track work, at least not without mods. Going to sell this and buy a RS Meg/FK8/i30N/Fiesta ST (there a few here all holding up very well) tomorrow biggrin (only half sarcastic...)

It's interesting as I've run a WRX wagon as a track car and my my Spec B was my regular drive alongside.

Whilst you'd have to prize the keys from the Legacy from my cold dead hands as a road car, I can't imagine where I'd start running it on track. I've driven some slow laps of the Ring in it and it definitely had an air of protest about it. Foul weather, bumpy roads, bit of muck and it'll happily bob along 4 up with bikes on the roof - that's where it's at for me. The cars you list are all a totally different class (and price bracket).

The WRX isn't exactly a circuit car either, but much larger brakes, suspension overhaul, geometry, a bunch of cooling/engine work and a turbo from an STI and it wasn't going to get caught buy a stock Golf R. Not exactly an FK8 standard, but the whole lot was £3.5K to do and it was still a practical/usable road car. It was 'OK' on a dry track day and could be fairly dominant in the wet.

Real problem was it's appetite for fuel, tires and pads!

I've been to a few track days with friends in imprezas and they've been fantastic in the wet, but they are pretty heavy on consumables (Especially fuel!). Seen a few warped discs on them too.
But at Cadwell in the pouring rain they were very, very fast.

Have you seen that ICP are doing replica Brembo calipers for £400 a pair? Probably a better bet than sourcing them second hand.
