Cambridge University launched a two-stage rocket just along the road in an attempt to break the British Amateur record of 25000 ft. They expected to break 30000ft. I managed to get some pics, all pretty long range (300yards. I wasn't allowed any closer in case it exploded.) Just thought some people might be interested. Some brave soul had to climb the gantry at the last minute to switch the rocket on ! (He would have been ok as he had a crash helmet on.) Ignition. Blast off. As far as I know it was very successful. They are planning a three stage/50000ft attempt next year.

Is it just me, or does the rocket look exactly like an AIM-7 Sparrow missile ?
