I was not convinced he was going to correct that "tumble" he was in. Then just "pop" and he was stable.

Scary stuff

What on earth did that cost to put on? Must have cost a couple of $M?

Still, as someone said, will make the coolest RB ad ever. Though it will have to be changed to "Red Bull gives you G"

Was it 740 mph he saw?

Whatever it cost, it was worth it in my book. It's not every day you see something live that is genuinely worthy of being described as awesome.

It's making me really look forward to following Bloodhound's record attempt. I hope that gets some good quality live coverage too.

Amazing. I made sure that the whole family had gathered to watch history in the making.

Not sure whether it was my iPad but he definitely sounded slurred and slow to respond to commands, I thought oxygen deprecation at first but then realised he's in an environment rich in oxygen.

I notice he did not break the record for the longest free fall.
I wonder if he intentionally pulled the chute early so that record eluded him, on account of the record being held by his friend who was running things on the ground?

how do they work this out though. Higher up the sound barrier is a different speed to what it is on the ground.

I know making things colder reduces the speed of sound in air (sort(k*r*t) is the sum for that, with k=1.4, but I am not sure air up that high even has the same specific heat ratio of 1.4, r = 287 is the specific gas constant and T is in Kelvin). But then surely at lower densities it is slowed further?

Epic work. But seems like a lot for a sugary drink?! (lol)

(In reality I suspect that Felix has had this in mind for some time, and Red Bull just happened to be the sponsor? I think they sponsor some of the coolest stuff on the planet if I'm honest. Good work all round.)
