Although he's an honorary professor from the University of Buckingham (which Poly was that?)

Couldn't find anything after an extensive 25 second Google.

Sure I read somewhere that a species of spider would get caught up an updraft, and sometimes carried into the upper atmosphere. Obviously frozen on the way up, but thaws on the way down and back to life by the time it hits the ground.

The word "proof" is a sensationalist word in it's own right, and when I see it used, or hear it used, I can only think it's either someone who is not well trained scientifically, or has an agenda to peddle.

We don't prove anything. We gather evidence in favour of a particular observation. In the best possible practice, we look for evidence to disprove something, and when there is overwhelmingly little, or even none, to contrast against a supporting body of evidence, then we can be very confident.

I can't prove I've synthesized a compound. But I can supply evidence in the form of NMR, mass spec, IR and other analytical measures that I have probably, very likely, obtained a desirable product from a given reaction.
