Hello all, recently my friend sent me this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qoqn2sFsrzg

Im sure this must have been discussed before as it seems to be all over the internet I just cant find a concise answer to whether it works.

Now I have a few questions which I need help with. Firstly is this even possible with the equipment he is using? Has anybody on here tried it before and can confirm its true or is it just some sort of crazy idea and a trick? I must mension he is a bit 'tin foil hat' about things so constantly goes on about this sort of thing.

Would the phone have actually charged or is the required ampage not there? I have quite an interest in electricity but I must confess im a bit of a novice.

I've not yet watched the video but I suspect this belongs in the same bullst basket as the shysters trying to market devices for wireless recharging devices using WiFi signals or ultrasonic transmission.

You can extract a small amount of electrical energy from electromagnetic emissions, but unless you are living next door to a huge transmitter the amount is going to be so small as to be worthless for this application.

^ it's that one, small voltages induced in an aerial.

Pretty much a crystal radio set without a speaker.
You'd get more free electricity from a solar panel.

I have no help to give and haven't really read the posts, but I couldn't help noticing your name. Don't think we are related though.

Ahh thanks all, it makes sense about the radio without the speaker. I thought it was never going to produce the voltage required. Grabbing a multimeter with my hands I can get it to 0.3V

Haha good name, same first name aswell!

Have a root through this http://transportevolved.com/2014/04/15/uk-governme... or Google
HA Electric vehicle trials, there will be 2 types under consideration, one something like a scaletric thing and 1 with wireless charging, something along those lines, all seems a bit complicated to me wobble was discussing it with the chap mentioned in some of the articles and a few developer types as to which way it may go for "infrastructure" at development stage.
