So you would still put it in a separate category called a "dwarf planet"?

I can live with that. Asteroids, which appear to be mainly rock, are often referred to as such.
The main difference between asteroids and KBOs is that asteroids are mostly rock whilst it seems KBOs are mostly frozen gases.

The important point is that you have recognised that it is not quite like the other planets.
