Not sure how old the video is, but here is a SpaceX rocket trying to land on a floating platform but the hold down mechanism apparently fails.

Yesterday's landing - one of the legs failed to latch down properly and gave way

Well it seems to work OK.

Their coverage is very good. Makes SpaceX' efforts look more like a student film project by comparison.

Launch time: 1757:31 GMT (12:57:31 p.m. EST)
Launch site: Plesetsk Cosmodrome, Russia
A Eurockot Rockot vehicle will launch with the Sentinel 3A Earth observation satellite for the European Space Agency and the European Commission. Sentinel 3A carries instruments to measure sea surface topography, sea and land surface temperature, and ocean and land color. Delayed from Oct. 31 and Dec. 10. [Feb. 4]


Feb. 17H-2A • Astro-H
Launch window: 0845-0930 GMT (3:45-4:30 a.m. EST)
Launch site: Tanegashima Space Center, Japan
A Japanese H-2A rocket will launch the Astro-H X-ray observatory for the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. Astro-H will observe the X-ray universe, studying objects such as supernova explosions, supermassive black holes, and galaxy clusters. Delayed from late 2015 and Feb. 12. [Feb. 14]

Mars mission targets Monday launch

As the launches become more common these should not be in the science thread but the Scientific Mission they undertake along with the results should

Well its a view but its like saying the train leaving platform 9 is the flying scotsman !

What is of importance in a Science thread is Science, not just another mundane cargo movement event.

Unless your a train spotter in which case thats not Science just number collecting!

I can't believe you didn't even mention this Mars Missions purpose !
