I wonder if they have a launch pad hidden in a volcano somewhere.

Not a launch, but "it's been exactly sixteen years since all the humans were on the surface of the Earth at once." -Margaret Lazarus Dean

My source has changed its headline to 'still attempting to launch' frown

"The belated launch of a powerful Earth-imaging satellite that will take the highest resolution pictures in the market, postponed by an unprecedented wildfire near the pad, is scheduled to fly on Friday.

A United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rocket will propel the WorldView 4 spacecraft into a sun-synchronous polar orbit from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

Friday's launch window extends from 10:30 to 10:45 a.m. local (1:30-1:45 p.m. EST; 1830-1845 GMT)."

There should be a Soyuz launch to the space station on Thursday. Interesting to see Peggy Whitson is getting another flight. her first was in 2002.

A bit off topic, but I'd never heard of this - technicians sneaking momentoes onto the Apollo landers https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moon_Museum

Hi all,
my first post for a while and first post in here. having recently moved to Orlando (east side) I was fortunate enough to see the Atlas go up on Saturday evening from my front bedroom window. Very impressive sight, it looked closer than expected (we're about 35 miles from the cape). It was great having the live launch countdown feed on my phone and hearing the updates as they resolved to sort the technical issues they faced prior to launch. I didn't realise thought hat the "live" feed was actually delayed by about a minute, so while they were still in the countdown with a minute to go we saw it climbing through the trees at the front of the house. Amazing. We'll definitely go to Titusville to see a launch close up soon.

As I was sat there waiting with my phone feeding me information I thought back to what my Dad would think of the tech and information we have at our fingertips these days (He died in '98), I think he'd be blown away by it!

One of the advantages of living on the east coast of Florida.
Wait until an SLS goes up (if it ever does).
