:-) Can't believe he didn't snaffle a pebble of moon rock too!

Charlie Duke kept finding bits of rock in the items they were allowed keep - like gloves. However, he says he always handed in any rock he found.

Crikey, he even swiped a camera. I bet that would be fought over by moon boffs - how much would you take out of the piggy bank for that Eric?

Well, there are a stack of unseen images about to go up for auction. I expect a camera that took some images from defining moments in time to be rather pricy. Anyone know where any decent amounts of treasure is buried?

I heard somewhere that 'moon dust' wont survive in our atmosphere. I have no idea if there is ANY truth in that though!

None.

Although most of the lunar material has been kept in vacuum sealed boxes to try and keep it pristine and uncontaminated.

They took a few camera's though. But could just imagine him having a quiet chuckle at that and that section of video, on the loons, well, they must be in melt down trying to work out scenarios.

Somewhere will be the mission transcript. But in years to come and they land next to 11 and find one camera missing, the same goons will shout "Ah HA!" "told you"

Anyhow, a quick google.

That would be the TV camera - which was set up on a tripod a 100 yards or so from the Lunar Module. It was the camera used to transmit back to earth the live TV images. It's still sitting where it was set up.

That definitely WAS left behind.

The camera they found in his belongings was a 16 mm cine camera which was mounted on a bracket looking out the right hand window of the Lunar Module. It was used to film the descent and landing and later the take off. It was reset during the moon walk to a slow frame rate.

Everything about Apollo was about discarding weight when it was no longer needed so the plan would have been to leave this camera in the ascent stage of the lunar module before the return to earth. Armstrong obviously decided that this particular weight saving measure was not really necessary so kept the camera for himself.
