MMars has been ASSUMED to be geologically inactive - but no one knows for sure.

It doesn't have a serious magnetic field.

There is ice at the poles of Mars it is possible that this is a heating of this ice causing gezer type events. I wasn't ware there was any active volcanoes on Mars due to the relatively cold centre (when compared with the Earth)

There is probably undersurface water ice over large parts of the planet.
