Well the idiot media are at it again - another asteroid will pass near the Earth on Thursday and they are pushing the hype-button as hard as they can

"Astronomers are worried that the asteroid named 1999 FN53 could possibly collide with the Earth"

No, they aren't. Closest approach is 26.5 times further away than the moon

"Even though astronomers have calculated it will not collide with the Earth, the slightest deviation in its course could lead to devastation due to its close proximity."

Do they have the slightest conception of what it would take to make such a large mass deviate from its plotted orbit ? Probably not - I suspect the writer can't even count past 20 without unzipping his pants.
