Ow.

Man has been launching big rockets for 50+ years. Should they really be going bang so often?

Anyone else thinking that maybe they should make rockets from the same stuff they make water towers with?

I wonder what it would take to accelerate a water tower to 17,500 mph?

Depends if full of water or not...

idea ...replace water with rocket fuel and you're halfway there!

Well, you will get a bang - but probably not much else.

I've given you the metal and the fuel... I thought you might bring a rocket motor as your half of the deal...

When does it stop being a standard old water tower and start being a proper rocket with orbital ambitions?

Which it wouldn't. Otherwise they'd be building rockets that look like water towers.

The material, not the appearance smash

Robert Goddard's first rockets looked a bit like mini-water towers, it has to be said -

Of course, it was the hefty construction that allowed the water tower at Wallops Island to survive the blast. It's also the reason why rockets aren't made from the same materials.
