Gets a mention in a few tomes, don't remember reading about the message though.

Should find a golf ball, hammer and a feather as well. Some nice camera's and a few backpacks, low milage motors.........

I've seen reference to the letter in a number of books and on a couple of documentaries as well. I wonder what the message is?

I interpreted it as 'This is the family of astronaut Charlie Duke from planet Earth who landed on the moon on April 20, 1972.'

They would have a collective hissy fit if one piccy upsets them and they find out what else was thrown away. That is not including the other junk from unmanned missions.

More importantly, they didn't leave themselves - unlike Scott, Mallory and many other explorers.

I'm not sure that either Scott or Mallory ever went to the Moon, did they?

Knowing how some people can't fathom that we went to the moon, they probably doubt if anybody ever climbed Everest either.

Point is - they went to equally extreme environments for their times, but weren't so lucky.
