Slightly O/T but may I ask, what is reddish star/planet that has been just to the left of Jupiter for several weeks?

Betelgeuse I should think. It's a biggun.

Betelgeuse is top left of Orion, very red. This is a little finger's length from Jupiter smile

Yes I'd like to see that too smile The star I'm referring to is Aldebaran, a red giant 68 light years away. Happy now.

Just a heads up that there are some nice passes coming up over the next few days if the sky is clear.

I think we caught that Welsh weather in London tonight.

As an aside, do any of you follow Commander Hadfield ( I think, I'll check in a moment) on twitter. He tweets from the ISS fabulous pictures of the Earth and gives details and answers to questions. Really interesting and the images are superb.

Edit: #cmdr_hadfield is his twitter name.

This is his latest picture, snowfields in Eastern Europe.

And one from a little while ago, you can see where we live on this busy little isle.

You can watch them fix the coolant leak live
http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html
Even some live shots from the cameras on their helmets which is pretty cool.
The chatter over the radio is quite interesting too, "Move the big gold things out the way", and "you want to minimise the wobble deflection on bolts H2 and H3".

smokin That is seriously cool.

There are 2 humans bobbing around in the vacuum of space right this moment repairing (basically) a refrigeration circuit.

And here I am putting off throwing up some shelves smile

Wonder if the leak was due to the guitar being thrown about for this video? wink
