Thanks. Nice picture, it looked like it had been taken early afternoon.
That's what happens with a long exposure and no filters.

The astronaut who had the water in his helmet a few weeks(?) back has written about the experience -

Nerves of steel to hold it together through a terrifying situation like that.

I know it wasn't the ISS but do any of you space types have any idea what just passed overhead? 17:22 (very) roughly SE - NW direction.

Just been mooching in Starry Night but nothing SE-NW, few iridium's going the other way but my list may not be up to date.

Apologies for the late response. I had a quick look at (what I think was) the track of that one and it seemed to fit. I do find these satellite tracking sites a little impenetrable though.

I took my boys as far from town as I could to a high hill to see Santa's sleigh doing a distribution run to the southern hemisphere - still worried that the light pollution would ruin it - but it was great.

If not the brightest pass I've seen it was higher than expected so sufficiently out of the glare and moving for longer before disappearing - more approx. west-east than I'm used to - and visible for long enough for us to see it go right over and behind us.

Kid's bought it lock, stock and clincher and have experienced one of those lucky, magical moments the young and naive benefit from.

Of course it was - just doing a test flight to make sure the sleigh was airworthy after 11+ months wink
