Good pass last night 22:42.

Standing in the garden with a laptop trying to understand how Stellarium works.

Set your location first. Same for anything like this. Then get North pegged or know which way it is, work off that?

I managed that much, I was watching it on the screen as well as in the sky. Most of the settings baffle me though, plus the random trails that appear on the screen. Maybe I need to visit the UFO thread.

I mainly use Starry Night, so not used to this one. It does have a help section.

Typical - first clear evening sky for weeks, and no visible passes :-(

Very clear pass last night - much easier to find than this bloody thread!

Something else passed just afterwards on a roughly ESE - WNW track for a few seconds.

I checked with Stellarium for last night's pass and I noticed that Envisat was making a pass more or less in the direction you described. It was too cloudy and hazy to see Envisat from where I was - but the ISS was prety clear.

We are due quite a few good passes over the next week or so.

And while you're at it keep an eye out for the Perseid Meteor Shower - at it's best Saturday night thumbup

Nice chance for Jeff Morgan and all to practice your "open shutter" photography.

Thanks for that, I'm afraid Stellarium is a bit complicated for thickos like me. Off to the boozer tonight so will be sitting outside and watching the pass though as it starts at 22:52 I may well see more than one.

Was outside having a fag and had a bright white light passing west to east ( ish ). Take it it was the ISS?

If it was around 10:53pm then most likely was.

Great pass last night followed by another shortly afterwards and a really bright meteor some time after.

Very clear here last night.

Spotted the ISS on Friday evening in Hythe. It was very clear but i will admit I was not sure what it was until later when I got home.
Here is a very poor iphone pic I took of it though.
