Strange question but delving back to my school science days......

Is it falling in the opposite direction to us spinning? Is that why it appears to be so fast?

Ignore me if necessary!

It IS orbiting in a contra direction (sort of) to the earth's rotation. So that would have an effect as to how it is actually travelling over the rotating earth below. However, the major compnent of its apparent speed is largely from its actual velocity in space.

Might be a bit low in the sky second time round so find some high ground!

Great pass tonight.

Tuesday will be good if the sky is clear.

Tomorrow - 17.40pm and Tuesday, 16.27pm

Both fairly good showings, if the sky is clear.

Think a lot of it was old stuff, it was sort of a cut an paste rather than new. Ah well.

Probably knocked together on the cheap.

The following programme on amateur astronomy was OK too - although I noticed it was made in 2005 so probably a repeat.

Quite amazing some of those people. If we move house again, a dark site is a must.
