The rules are identical product, 20 miles, same day, immediate availability, bricks and mortar store, publicly available price.
Sorry, never had anything to do with price matching, it's not allowed where I work. biggrin

So - OP - did they price match?!

I thought ECP was open 7 days a week anyway?!

Cheers

They were prepared to, but the bosch battery at ECP wasn't the same model as halfords stock, and as was pointed out previously it has to be an exact match. I've got to say a massive thumbs up to the manager and his employees at Halfords, Guisely. He was totally happy to match ECP, costco or anywhere else that had bricks and mortar building within 20 miles. He, and his staff even used their own smart phones to get phone numbers for the local costco and other business to try and help me out! They were all extremely helpful and were doing everything they could to save me a bit of moula!

In the end I ended up spending £115 on a battery from halfords, rather than waiting two days (and the hassle that would have caused) and spending £55. The more expensive one is better, and comes with a 5 year rather than a 3 year warrenty but still a lot of money for a battery! I think how brilliant the halfords staff were also helped sway me into spending my money there - had they been less helpful I doubt that I would have.

Chris

EDIT: spelling and grammar - before flinstone comes along and tears it to shreads!

^ Good god man!!! You can't come on here saying Halfords are good. Don't you know all the keyboard warriors on here hate them and Kwik Fit with a passionlaugh

Neither had a problem with either in my experience, my local Halfords are really helpful.

Hey, glad to hear that smile

It sounds like the store you went to operated similarly to mine - more than happy to make the sale even at a much reduced rate, but just need a concrete reason to do the reduction! The nice thing about getting the battery from Halfords, even if it's at a pretty steep rate, is that should anything go wrong with it, wherever you are you've got a store handy to take it in under warranty. The Bosch Silver batteries are damn good too!

It's kinda nice to see that on here, while Kwik Fit get massive bkings over terrible service and so on, we rarely get anything more than a mild venting about high prices biggrin

What wasn't?
His degree in college wasn't a degree in English, because he spelled batteries incorrectly.
