Making yourself a woodburner? Always wondered how people safely cut gas bottles in half? Fill them with water somehow?
Compleatly empty it then Remove the valve, fill with water then drain the water and it will be fine.

Yep! Open valve and turn bottle upside down. Leave overnight. Propane is heavier than air.

The dodgy bit. Lay bottle on its side and smack the valve off! I used a piece of wood and a mallet. No sparks. I tried with stilsons but couldn't get a good grip. They are screwed in extremely tight and threadlocked. But they move!

Then flush with water a couple of times, fill again and cut whilst full of water.

If it's a newly emptied bottle, you, and everything around you around will stink for ages. The mercaptan used to odorise the gas is a horrible oily substance that lingers in the bottles until you burn it out.

Disclaimer. It may or may not work!

my box , a bit crowded but well worth it , took the wheels off so no scrote can wheel it away if they break in but then again there is not enough room to get it past the dead t5

Old on the Left, New one (with top box) on the right;

Sadly both the old one and the new one, and the new ones identical replacement have all done this;

Currently waiting on snap on to make a decision as I've refused to take a fourth toolbox off them, especially as it took them over three months to replace it last time!

Should also add I'm aware of at least five other people this has happened to! frown

I doubt you will get a refund!

These boxes have a lifetime guarantee. try pressing to exchange for a KRL series box in exchange, a far better built box. If the dealer isn't very helpful contact the area manager, then uk HQ in Kettering.

Picked my new one up a couple of weeks ago, sad to get rid of the Scooby one but it was a bit small.

Our dealer has quit, so dealing with area manager (and have been doing for the last two exchanges), they have offered a KRL as an exchange (bottom box only), but I think it will be too bulky without enough storage space, so discussing other options with them!

Aware of the lifetime guarantee, hence this being my third box!

shame, because otherwise its a cracking toolbox!

My £50 halfords non professional toolkit I got for my 18th seems more rubbish than it is now! However you have all inspired me to have a sort out, since they are a massive mess.

Used frequently though, and I add to it monthly with bits I need. Currently need some 3/4" sockets for my breaker bar, and a few of the spanners have been merged in with my massive box of random spanners but apart from that, it's served me well over 4 cars!

Some of these boxes are something else - love the massive Snap On boxes that have a back board for more storage and a proper work area etc

Bought this the other day from B&Q for £52 - it'll do for now!

Already think it'll be full quickly as I transfer tools from my current makeshift solution though, so might buy a second.
