Old on the Left, New one (with top box) on the right;
Sadly both the old one and the new one, and the new ones identical replacement have all done this;
Currently waiting on snap on to make a decision as I've refused to take a fourth toolbox off them, especially as it took them over three months to replace it last time!
Should also add I'm aware of at least five other people this has happened to!
I doubt you will get a refund!Sadly both the old one and the new one, and the new ones identical replacement have all done this;

These boxes have a lifetime guarantee. try pressing to exchange for a KRL series box in exchange, a far better built box. If the dealer isn't very helpful contact the area manager, then uk HQ in Kettering.

Just getting in to home tinkering, so got some Halfords specials. Will replace with decent tools as and when they break! Done the screwdrivers already
Is the stuff you bought Halfords Professional? If it is, I wouldn't be too concerned. I know its the fashion on the PH boards to criticize anything from Halfords, but Halfords Professional tools are good. Even the none pro stuff is fine. I have a Halfords Pro half inch socket set that is well over 15 years old and its been great. I also have their ratchet spanners, screwdrivers and various other bits and none of them have ever broke.
I have a friend who is a mobile mechanic and he has Halfords Pro spanners and he speaks very highly of them.
I was told that Sykes Pickavant made Halfords tools, so the quality should be there! I have all sorts of Halfords tools and have found them to be good - though I have some American-made ratchet spanners that are the canine's gonads. I can't remember the make but they are nice and slim and the ratchet is so smooth, you hardly notice it. To cap it all, they even came in a lined aluminium case. It seems a shame to use them on the Landy!!

Also got some professional range screwdrivers and they are nicer. Magnetic tips, grippier handles and feel sturdy. I want to get the professional socket set next!
It's not how big it is, it's how you use it
I started out with a very small socket set and some spanners
Now have duplicate tools at hone and a barn I store my toys in
My purchases now are mainly enhancements such as shorter spanners, ratchet spanners, special sizes loved by car manufacturers such as 14,16,18mm. Tork's, splines etc
I'm lucky enough to say Ooh I'll have that, but not lucky enough to go for snap on
