Good / Cheap Car Ramps

Any recommendations for a pair of ramps (the metal static type, not hydraulic) for an X Type Jag estate, must be decent enough not to crush me, but the cheaper the better too?

I can't make a recommendation, but I must say that I would only buy ramps of a reputable brand, or from a reputable supplier. I don't fancy climbing under a car knowing that it is supported by ramps of unknown quality.

I got hold of a set of halfords ramps for a very cheap price but find that they are too tall, or the angle is too steep to put either my impreza or 206 on.
Youd do best getting some of these long ramps to futureproof your purchase.

I borrowed a pair of ramps from a friend a few years back and my C36 caught on them - those extensions look far better than the paving slabs I ended up using....

What about the matching ramps - http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/... - would they be good enough?

Ive been looking for the same thing myself. Just spoken with a mate of mine who does all his own servicing etc and said he gets alot of his tools etc from Machine Mart.

Think I'll pop down there today and take a look

Don't meet the 'Cheap' criteria, but definitely the 'Good', I bought a set of Ezup's a few years ago:

I have some wooden ones, I find the metal ones are a pain to drive on as they slip. Mine are pretty low due to the wood used. I might make some higher ones from some oak gate posts I have.

May be a bit late to the thread but I have a set of Machine Mart ramps and matching extensions. They've been fine so far and I can get my lowered Eunos onto them without a problem. They also do a low hydraulic jack and axle stands which may be of interest.

Just had the first try-out today of a set of hydraulic ramps. Not cheap but very good in use with the Chimp. Easy as pie and rock solid once aloft - loads of height; almost couldn't reach the diff filler!

They haven't thought that out properly; it'd make more sense to have unequal length hoses so you could put the pump to one side for easier access.

The pump/hose couplings are QD fittings if you need the pump out of the way

Do they have any sort of mechanical lock ? I wouldn't be getting under there if they don't.

Yep, a substantial device on each ram that locks it out. Paid very close and careful scrutiny to that!

Be careful with them. The extensions are not that strong. I used them once and they were slightly uneven. Drove an Audi A6 onto them and bent them.
