Thinking of buying a "cheap/budget" jack? You might want to read this
So any jack with circlips should be avoided.
I know the alloy c£100 jacks aren't the best jack out there but they are not a cheap nasty jack either.

I would love a heavy duty steel jack but it would be bloody heavy to carry to the car just to remove the wheels for a clean and work on the brakes etc. Not going under the car however seeing the above post does make you start to think if its just worth going for the 40kg steel model for the safety benefit over an aluminium jack.

Maybe not avoided but definately checked regularly, or as suggested in thast post somewhere, a dab of weld to secure things.

I ended up buying a SIP 03092 aluminium jack. Got a great price from the group buy on drift works forum. If i find myself doing more than take the wheels off to clean then i may invest in a more heavy duty jack.
