Tapered Ring Compressors
Discussion
The alternative is a fixed. Summit say they do a 3.780 inch (but the pic is showing a 3.77 which may be a cock up with their images. Thats 96.012mm.
Will 12 hundreth's of a mil show up when dropping them in.

Summit seem to have the most reasonable shipping rates

The inverse chamfer is just a small shaped lip on the inside of the bore of the compressor that is the exact reverse shape of the chamfer and locates into the chamfer, this locks the device and offers a smooth transition from compressor to bore such that the rails in the oil control ring cannot expand into the chamfer area when the piston is fitted.

Thanks.Dave
That's about as clear as mud.
Do you know what a chamfer is?
It's usually a small 45 degree cut across a 90 degree edge.
A reverse chamfer is the opposite, a small raised lip on a 90 degree edge that is the opposite form of the chamfer. It doesn't take a huge leap of imagination to conjure the image in your mind.
Mud or no, I can't put it any plainer than that.

That's why pictures were invented, because they paint a thousand words....

What that has to do with a chamfer is beyond me. It's a groove in the end, the material left on is presumably the clearance between the piston and the bore.

If your intention is to learn something, try reading the words, it really helps.
Did I draw any connection between those tricky to understand words 'reverse chamfer' and the device linked to?
I think you are a troll. In the interests of keeping the thread in topic, I will no longer be feeding the trolls.

I've got a 93.0mm ARP which I use to fit pistons into a 92.8 - 98.9 bore. I've not had any issues with it. Last time the pistons were fitted with total seal rings too. Will 12 hundreth's of a mil show up when dropping them in.

Mission accomplished. After phoning around the states and being informed that the Wiseco 96mm compressor was on back order till the end of July I largely gave up.
I found Cosworth supply the same type of compressor, but I had no reply mailing there sales team. I phoned a place listed as a Cosworth Distributor, although he had no cosworth compressors he did have this Company was www.part-box.com

Can you get a pic of the other end so I can see the detail please?

Glad you got it sorted. They are worth the money. I am curious though, 96mm is a hefty bore size, what are you building?I found Cosworth supply the same type of compressor, but I had no reply mailing there sales team. Heres the top looking down..Can you get a pic of the other end so I can see the detail please?
Heres the bottom that will mate with the bore..
And heres a side profile looking at the bottom face again
Hope that helps.
Looking at the pictures it's just a metal sleeve with an internal taper, is that correct?
Please will someone who actually knows what is required post a simple cross sectional sketch of the component
showing clearly where this elusive chamfer is. All I can see from the photos is what appears to be a 1/32"
x 45deg. chamfer on the outside edge of the smaller tapered end of the sleeve.

Did you pull that out of the ladybird book of insults? You could try using your own words. Oh that's right, pictures are your thing aren't they?
How ungrateful, I designed that just for you, maybe you should go back to making a mess of our roads? This thread shows the true value of pictures, you would never make something like this without a pic or a drawing.
