Hi there,

I'm not mechanically knowledgable and this is my first car so apologises if I'm not being clear with what I have to say.

This is my first car an 03 plate 1 litre corsa, had it for just short of a month, today however after driving to work, I had an engine light (exhaust emission in corsa handbook) illuminated.

Looked under the hood and spotted this crack

Anyone have any insight?

That's a plastic cover, it's not an issue in the slightest.

The engine check light could be on for any number of reasons, best to get it checked out by someone with a fault code reader.

That cover slides to the right to reveal the coil pack. Its a single unit feeding all four plugs. The picture appears to show some moisture on the cover plate. I can't imagine its water but probably a bit of oil or grease from an oil change dripped then wiped off but it maybe worth having a look at the state of the coil pack & plugs.

Good advise, but if this person thinks a cracked engine cover is the reason an engine management light has come on, their not going to have a clue what you just suggested. You may as well have suggested they check the flux capacitor.

Car needs taking to a garage, as someone else has said and as I'm sure it says in the handbook on the photo you've posted.

The advice given was good
We all have to start somewhere and the poster of this thread was a niave as I was with my first car
There is only one way to learn and that is to seek advise.
I did, I still do even though I have built a kit car and can strip an engine to a bare block and rebuild it.

Ask away young man and learn, even ask old men like me for a bit of guidance
