My 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser Amazon electric areial mast has snapped, the cost of a complete new assembly is frightening!
I noticed a shop on Ebay sells the telescopic mast only is it a simple job to renew just the mast or should I start saving for a new assembly?

Thanks in advance.

It's been a while.

As far as I remember if there's any of the aerial still protruding undo the nut at the base where the aerial comes up through then switch the radio on and hopefully the aerial will feed itself out, keep pulling gently and the toothed drive 'cable' should come out too.

Installation should be the reverse. Ie: feed the toothed 'cable' into the hole until it stops then switch off the radio hopefully, the aerial should feed itself back into position with a guiding hand. May need a friend to help with this if you can't reach radio and aerial simultaneously.

As I say it's been a good few years and stand to be corrected. You could ask a car audio specialist for advice.

Best of luck.

Thanks, I think before buying a new mast I should disassemble the old one to check all is well first if that looks ok then I will buy the new mast.
