I would also make sure you buy some decent cutting or grinding wheels. As good wheel will help you but bad wheels can be nasty when they go wrong

I really rate my little JCB grinder, use it for car body work, its a cracking bit of kit and was only about £30 IIRC. I had a cheapo Titan one before that and it rattled itself to death in short order.

For cleaning and grinding Flap discs are fantastic, get rid of surface rust and paint like a grinding disc but are a bit more flexible (downside is they wear quickly).

Cut brushes are very useful but are fvcking vicious, will shed metal bristles, so wear overalls, gloves, face mask etc.
