TiG not striking an arc

damnit.. TIG isn't striking an arc. Just a very weedy spark which, while it's pretty and looks like a baby tesla coil, isn't going to be much use for welding.

Turned the current way up to try and get even a big arc that's too much to be of use, but still nothing.

hmm.. where to start looking.

It's an earlier version of one of these, http://www.migtigarc.co.uk/TIG_Welder/MTA_AC-DC_18...

an MTA TecTig 183 but has pretty much the same features.


Any suggestions?

sounds like the HF is working but not the main power
don't know about electrics so cannot be any more help

Spot on. I spoke to the supplier and we've identified there was a problem with the main supply plug. I've got a new one on order.
