Got a '98 Rav4 I've just done the timing belt / water pump on. Coolant drained was blue. Looks like the shops recommend the pink/red stuff (OAT?).

There's some horror stories about mixing coolant types - what to do?

Put blue back in.

Nothing wrong with blue.

Was thinking that but just had a better look at the old stuff - it's purple so it's been mixed already. Going to flush it and put the newer pink but thanks anyway.

Sure it's not purple? Newer OAT coolant used in VAGs is purple rather than red, just to confuse you

Toyota used the pink coolant as standard from the factory, and I believe they sell it at dealer for around £15. It's completely OEM and supposed to last around 50-60k miles.
