Hello I have a 51 plate corsa 1.2 easytronic. I drove to school this morning fine, but when going to get back in my key fob wouldnt work. So I unlocked with the key in door tried ignition but nothing happened. The dash lights lit up but it wouldnt start. I took key out and all the dash lights stayed lit up.

I thought maybe dead battery but would the dash lights stay lit if battery dead? Its automatic.

any help appreciated. Thabks

Start off with putting it in Park smile

Sounds like it could be an immobiliser thing, but without more info it's hard to tell

I'd say it's a flat battery, If it was the immobiiser only I think it'd still turn over. Get it jump started and get the battery and alternator checked with a multimeter.

It's not the key fob battery as tried my spare.

Don't think its the battery as the dash lights are staying on even when key is out ignition.

Spoke to mechanic who said it was the ignition but he's messing me around and still hasn't turned up yet grrrrr

The battery can have ebnough power to make the lights work, but may lack sufficient power to allow the engine to crank. If you turn the ignition to try and start the engine, can you hear a "click"?
