As above. Something I thought about during my recent swap to winter alloys.

By default I've always closed the valve.

I checked online but couldn't find anything. Perhaps it makes no difference?

Makes no difference if the trolley arm is down and at rest.

Even if there is load on the arm / ram being left closed will make very little difference.

Open, just to stop it getting stuck against the seat.

As it's swimming in hydraulic oil surely it won't get stuck.
